We are back  home after a brief vacation with more Farmhouse Finds for your country kitchen.  Yes its all about style with feeling so I am sharing with you a few new finds from a recent shopping trip here in the North Country.  I am always on the hunt for a classic farm table. I fell in love with this old beauty as it has plenty of age patina and it perfect for any country setting.

There is nothing like a true Country Auction in the Summer here in the Adirondack’s to get me excited.  First of all i love living in the country and  my time spent up here visiting a local farmhouse where generations of families have lived  viewing their antique treasures which have been passed down.  Taking part in a country auction is the best way to learn about antiques and gather some useful information when buying as most often the family who is selling their treasures are often present.  Here is a sneak peek of a few items i was able to buy with most been offered at the Pink Pig.

I found the Uptown Soap Co. several months ago while searching for some new beauty finds online…something I know every girl is searching for online.  Being a country girl now, I am limited to shopping for the latest and greatest in must-have products.  I did some research on Uptown Soap’s products and loved their take on producing small batches of animal-friendly soaps enriched with all-natural, high-quality Shea butter and glycerin. The packaging is elegant, and the soaps are hand-crafted right in Manhattan.  Their soaps are Tripled Milled or French milled soaps, which are made of a typical combination of a fatty acid (oil or fat) in reaction with lye (sodium hydrochloride). After the soap is made, it is dried into crystals, then rolled at least three times between large stainless steel rollers until a paste is formed. The paste is then pressed into soap molds, and triple milled soap is created.

I decided to give their products a try, as I wanted to see for myself if it was just their unique packaging I was attracted to online or if there products truly did what they were advertising.  I am now a huge fan of all their products and Uptown Soap is now a signature product for the Pink Pig shops.  Their soap scents are deliciously fresh fragrances like Black Honey, Anju Pear, Verbena Verde & Lychee Currant and are just yummy.  Their body creams do the job and can be used as moisturizer/lotion for the whole body.

Cottage Style decorating with some French Flair is what our last antique treasure hunt found us with here at the Pink Pig.  I found some wonderful French inspired furniture i thought i would share with you.

I recently found a collection of Alberto Vargas pin-up girls and i was so amazed that someone let the collection go …. however lucky me.  I thought i would share a few from the collection – each from Esquire magazine, which are now being framed and will be available at the Pink Pig soon.  Check out these gals… is this glam or what!

Alberto Vargas is often considered one of the most famous of the pin-up artists.  He became famous in the early 1940’s as the creator of iconic World War II era pin-up for Esquire magazine known as the “Varga Girls”  I am sure you remember all those WW II movies with the aircraft nose art which was adapted from these Esquire pin-ups.  In the 1960’s Playboy magazine began to use his work and his career flourished and had major exhibitions of his work all over the world.
